As reported earlier this week, Real Madrid continue to keep a close eye on the situation of Erling Haaland at Manchester City.
The 24-year-old striker’s release clause is set to kick in from the summer of 2025. That coupled with the Cityzens’ facing sanctions due to financial irregularities, have made the possibility of a departure likely.
As has been reported in the past, the Norwegian harbours ambitions of playing for Real Madrid and his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, would be willing to facilitate the transfer.
But, according to Jota Jordi on El Chiringuito TV, Real Madrid’s arch-rivals FC Barcelona are prepared to go after the signing of Haaland in the summer of 2025.
The Blaugrana are of the belief that their ace goalscorer, Robert Lewandowski, might find it hard to cope with the busy fixture schedule given his age and recent dip in form.

As such, they are willing to go after Haaland, who has long been a dream target for Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
Finances, though, could be a major hindrance, considering that Barça’s economic situation is far from ideal currently.
It could give Real Madrid an edge, if they do indeed decide to go after the 24-year-old striker, who has 19 direct goal contributions for Manchester City this season from 23 appearances.
However, considering that Los Blancos already have star-studded frontline of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo Goes, and Endrick, there may well have to be a departure if Haaland is to be accommodated in the squad.
