Sky Sports reports a breakthrough between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig over Yan Diomande, with optimism that an agreement could be finalised soon.

The Champions League record winners have led the race for the Ivorian winger for over a week.

Until today, Florian Plettenberg maintained there had been no breakthrough, though a move still looked the likeliest outcome before the window closes, a stance RB Leipzig chief Marcel Schäfer echoed yesterday.

Following positive talks on Tuesday, Plettenberg added that Madrid are now working to complete the transfer this week.

Diomande is not expected to join Leipzig’s training camp in Austria while negotiations continue between the clubs.
