"I was fortunate to play alongside him for a year. People keep asking me if he's my successor and what I think of his performances this season at Real. I'm genuinely happy to see him getting much more playing time. He's definitely a player you can count on for the future. I don't really like making comparisons—Arda is a different kind of player than I am. His best position is clearly more advanced, so it's not really a matter of being a direct successor. (...) He has fantastic ball control, and he's already shown that several times this season for Real. I just hope he continues to play regularly, because that's the only way he'll keep improving. And if he does, I'm sure he'll have a long and brilliant career at Real," Kroos told the press.
