Real Madrid have invited a lot of heat from the referees’ association in Spain for their aggressive policy towards the referees.
Through the media platform, RMTV, the club have consistently released videos highlighting perceived refereeing errors, especially before key encounters.
This has been done in order to put pressure on the referees, who, as the club believe, have been quite partial towards the team’s opponents.
This practice, though, has had major ramifications in the personal lives of the referee, which is something Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea, the referee of the Copa del Rey final, alluded to before the contest, sparking widespread critique from Real Madrid.
Despite the backlash, reports indicate that the Spanish giants have no intention of altering their approach, with the club standing firm on their strategy as long as they deem it necessary, reports COPE.

It appears Real Madrid continue to believe that they are unfairly targeted by refereeing decisions, particularly in high-stakes matches.
As such, the club’s leadership views RMTV’s content as a tool to shed light on inconsistencies and hold officials accountable.
This could, however, continue to invite fierce backlash from opponents, the referees and the authorities alike, with La Liga president Javier Tebas, in particular, being vocal against the club.
The onus, therefore, will be on Real Madrid to withstand all these external pressures and remain steadfast in their stand against the corrupt refereeing in Spain.
Real Madrid, after all, are not the only club impacted by shoddy and inconsistent refereeing in Spain. Therefore, as the Merengues continue their fight, it will be interesting to see whether or not there will be any systemic changes in the near future.
