Real Madrid are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel on the right side of defence, and Dani Carvajal is at the centre of that optimism.
At a moment when injuries and uncertainty have tested the squad’s depth, the veteran full-back has taken an important step forward in his recovery.
According to a recent update published by MARCA, Carvajal has already started training with the group and is actively pushing to be available for the Spanish Super Cup campaign, which Real Madrid kick off with a match against Atletico Madrid.
Nearly 70 days after undergoing surgery on his right knee, the defender has begun a gradual reintegration process and took part in part of the latest team session.
While caution remains the priority, this progress has reopened the door to a possible Super Cup call-up.
This development comes at an ideal time for Xabi Alonso, who has spent the last month without a natural right-back.
Carvajal’s absence, combined with the injury to Trent Alexander-Arnold, has left Real Madrid exposed on the flank.
As a result, Alonso was forced to improvise repeatedly, using players such as Federico Valverde, Raul Asencio, and academy star David Jimenez to plug the gap over the last five matches.

For the player himself, it represents another attempt to reset after a difficult period marked by recurring physical problems.
At 33, every comeback carries extra weight, and this one arrives as Real Madrid approach a decisive phase of the season, with the first trophy within reach and the longer-term objective of the 2026 World Cup still lingering in the background.
At the same time, his recovery is unfolding against a backdrop of uncertainty regarding his future.
Carvajal’s contract with Real Madrid expires at the end of the season, and no final decision has been made about an extension.
Although he turns 34 later this month, rumours have already begun to circulate about a possible final adventure away from Madrid.
For now, though, Carvajal is back on the training pitch, pushing his body, and aiming to make himself useful again when Real Madrid need him most.
Whether this comeback leads to a new contract or a final farewell, the coming weeks promise to be decisive.
