Real Madrid face Al-Hilal in their opening fixture of the FIFA Club World Cup this evening.
The Spanish side are aiming to win a record-extending sixth Club World Cup title and face the Saudi Pro League outfit in their group stage opener. It’s a rematch of the 2022 final, when Real Madrid beat Al-Hilal 5-3 in a thrilling decider in Morocco.
Both teams will be under the management for the first time. Xabi Alonso will take charge of Real Madrid, following the appointment of the former Bayer Leverkusen head coach.
Al-Hilal will be led by Simone Inzaghi, who has moved to Saudi Arabia after guiding Inter Milan to two of the last three Champions League finals.
Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold are in line for debuts for Real Madrid, following their high-profile moves to the Bernabeu this summer.
Kylian Mbappe will hope to join the new signings in the side, though remains a doubt after suffering from illness in recent days. Real Madrid have included Eder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba, and Ferland Mendy in their squad despite being at various stages of recovery from injury.
This week, Xabi Alonso said he is counting on Rodrygo this season despite speculation over the winger’s future.
Real Madrid predicted XI: Courtois; Alexander-Arnold, Asencio, Huijsen, Garcia; Valverde, Tchouameni, Bellingham; Rodrygo, Vinicius, Mbappe.
Real Madrid face Al-Hilal in the FIFA Club World Cup on Wednesday 18th June 2025. Kick-off in the clash is 8pm BST.
In the UK, the game will be televised live on 5 (formerly known as Channel 5). The game can also be streamed via DAZN.
