Endrick finally made his first appearance of the season for Real Madrid this past Saturday, coming on as a late substitute against Valencia.

It was the 19-year-old striker’s first appearance in over five months, having been out with a muscle injury since late May.

Even though Endrick had been fit and available since the September international break, manager Xabi Alonso had not called on the teenager until late on vs Valencia, with the game already in the bag.

Given his situation, talks of a loan move in January have been gathering weight, with Olympique Lyon in France showing serious interest.

Real Madrid in no hurry to make a decision

However, according to The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana, Real Madrid are in no hurry to make a decision on Endrick’s future and will delay it at least for a while.

This stance comes even though Lyon have expressed a strong interest in taking the 19-year-old striker on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Brazilian international, for his part, is also understood to be open to the switch if it earns him regular minutes and boosts his chances of making it to the Brazil squad for the FIFA World Cup next year.

However, Real Madrid do not wish to make a final decision on the matter right away and will take their time.

A sizeable investment

Endrick was a big investment on Real Madrid’s part, with the club signing him from Palmeiras in a deal worth €35 million plus another €25 million in add-ons.

As per the report, Los Blancos have already paid at least €12.5 million of the variable component, meaning Endrick has essentially cost the club €47.5 million in transfer fees thus far.

While his potential has never been in question, a combination of factors have limited his game-time at the Santiago Bernabeu since his arrival in 2024.

A loan move in January might turn out to be the best decision for everyone involved. However, it remains to be seen whether Real Madrid see things that way or not.
