With so many venues ready to host games in the 2030 edition, selecting the right venue for the knockout stages and especially the final becomes complicated.

The likely destination

As relayed in a recent report by AS, the desired venue for the final of the 2030 FIFA World Cup is the Santiago Bernabeu and all signs point to Real Madrid’s home stadium earning that privilege.

The excellent relationship between Gianni Infantino and Florentino Perez serves as the foundation in seeing that decision being finalised and the Bernabeu hosting its second World Cup final after the 1982 edition.

FIFA are not expected to finalise any decision until the end of 2026, and there are several decisions to be made before arriving on that of the final venue including the draw, the opening game and other events.

The final, however, is best placed in Spain as seen by FIFA, especially given the contribution of the nation to the sport. The Bernabeu, on that front, is the most promising option especially given his modernisation and world-class infrastructure.

The Spotify Camp Nou and the Metropolitano are other options, but Real Madrid’s home stadium appears to be leading the race at this point in time. The relations between Perez and FIFA, after all, provide it with an upper hand in addition to the other factors playing in its favour.
