Real Oviedo fan arrested for racist abuse of Real Madrid star | OneFootball

A member of the fanbase at La Liga newcomers Real Oviedo was recently detained by the police, for racially-motivated abuse of Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé.

That’s according to journalist Melchor Ruiz of COPE, who has on Wednesday provided an insight into the situation.

Real Madrid made the trip to face Oviedo late last month, in the club’s 2nd outing of the new campaign.

When all was said and done, Xabi Alonso’s troops emerged on the right side of a 2-0 result, courtesy of goals on the part of the aforementioned Kylian Mbappé (2), and attacking partner in crime Vinícius Jr.

A fine evening’s work for Los Blancos, however, was spoiled by a small section of the home crowd.

Post-match, word was forthcoming that several racist gestures had been spotted and heard in the stands at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere.

And as alluded to above, as much has since culminated in police intervention.

As per a report from Melchor Ruiz:

‘A fan of Real Oviedo was detained for making racist gestures against Kylian Mbappé at the Carlos Tartiere during Real Madrid’s visit in the 2nd round of the League.’
