Real Sociedad ‘in talks’ over Edson Álvarez, Ajax interested

With just over two weeks until La Liga begins, Real Sociedad have yet to add reinforcements, and Edson Álvarez has moved to the forefront of their targets.

De Telegraaf reports that Ajax are very interested in the Mexico captain, and that Real have offered seven and a half million euros for 50% of his rights, with an option to buy the remainder through add-ons.

Fabrizio Romano has indicated that initial conversations between the clubs have already taken place.

Álvarez, 28, is under contract at West Ham until 2028 after their relegation last season, and spent the previous campaign on loan at Fenerbahce. A holding midfielder who can also play centre-back, he mirrors Igor Zubeldia’s switch from midfield.

Whether he becomes Real Sociedad’s first addition for next season remains to be seen.
