Refcam footage released by Sky Sports shows Anthony Taylor’s calls during Sunderland’s 2-1 win at St James’ Park last Sunday. According to Sunderland Echo, the clips track his decisions at key moments.

Early on, Taylor halted play to warn Newcastle assistant Jason Tindall and Sunderland coach Michael Proctor over dissent towards the fourth official, saying bookings would follow if it continued.

He rejected a first-half penalty when Anthony Gordon went down under Trai Hume, judging Gordon had stepped across him. VAR backed the on-field call.

Just before half time, Hume was booked for a foul on Anthony Elanga. After a flare-up involving Gordon, Omar Alderete and Joelinton, Taylor told captains Granit Xhaka and Kieran Trippier that two others should have been cautioned and to manage it.

He then awarded Chemsdine Talbi’s equaliser, ruling Aaron Ramsdale was impeded by a team-mate and, from Hume’s follow-up, Habib Diarra used his chest. VAR confirmed it.

He also judged at 1-1 that Jacob Murphy was interfering from an offside position as Malick Thiaw’s header flew towards the Sunderland goal.

Soon after, Taylor noted a save before Brobbey converted the rebound. Murphy appealed for handball, which he dismissed, and Brobbey was booked for removing his shirt as the goal stood.
