Régis Le Bris has made four changes for Sunderland’s trip to Bournemouth, with injuries forcing a reshuffle as they look to stop a losing run.
According to Sunderland Echo, Granit Xhaka returns after a Fulham cameo, with Noah Sadiki pushed forward. Both wings change, Jocelin Ta Bi has an ankle injury and Nilson Angulo is held back as an impact option. Chemsdine Talbi starts and Enzo Le Fée is set to operate from the left.
Nordi Mukiele and Brian Brobbey are out for two to four weeks with calf and groin issues. Lutsharel Geertruida comes in at right back and Eliezer Mayenda is preferred to Wilson Isidor.
The XI is Roefs in goal, a back four of Geertruida, Ballard, Alderete and Hume, Xhaka, Sadiki and Diarra in midfield, with Talbi and Le Fée supporting Mayenda.
Milan Aleksic is on the bench for the first time this season after returning in January from a loan in the Polish top tier.
Le Bris said the squad had to reset after the window and that Mayenda and Isidor need time and backing as they adapt. He stressed the pressure on strikers, saying progress will come with experience, and added that opportunities arise in a 21-player group, especially after four injuries in one game last weekend.
