Régis Le Bris’s Sunderland face Andoni Iraola’s Liverpool in Nashville on Saturday night, the opening friendly of their US tour, with an 11pm BST kick-off.

According to Sunderland Echo, an initial squad of 26 is in the US, with Wilson Isidor arriving after his World Cup break to bolster the ranks.

With Robin Roefs joining the tour on Sunday after World Cup commitments, Melker Ellborg will get another chance to start in goal.

A visa issue for Jocelin Ta Bi leaves Sunderland without a senior right winger on this tour, which might see Trai Hume pushed higher. In that case, Nordi Mukiele could continue in the attacking right back role he has performed well since last summer.

Jenson Seelt is a strong option if Le Bris eases Dan Ballard back, even though Ballard returned to full training this week and could feature. Seelt might depart later in the summer, but his display at York last week underlined his quality.

Luke O’Nien should get another opportunity to impress, with Omar Alderete not due back on Wearside until next month after the World Cup. That gives O’Nien a real chance to stake a claim for regular minutes during the tour.
