Tijjani Reijnders grabbed his fifth and sixth goals of the season from midfield with a brace in Milan’s 3-0 victory against Empoli in San Siro on Saturday afternoon, which has prompted some outlets in Italy to suggest that his market value has more than trebled since his move from AZ Alkmaar in 2023.
The Netherlands international dispatched two very well-taken finishes on a foggy night in San Siro, adding to Alvaro Morata’s early opener.
On the last day of November, Reijnders came within one goal of levelling his best ever in a single season (7), which came in 2022-23 with AZ Alkmaar. Italian outlet La Republicca labelled the 26-year-old Milan’s ‘beacon in the fog’.

La Gazzetta dello Sport were also full of praise for the Rossoneri midfielder after his display against Empoli, dubbing him one of the league’s best midfielders alongside the likes of Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, Teun Koopmeiners and Scott McTominay.
The Pink Paper also claim that it is a ‘sensible estimate’ to say that Reijnders’s value on the transfer market has trebled since his €20m move to San Siro in the summer of 2023.
He had joined for a fee of €20m plus bonuses, which has been described as one of the steals of recent years in Serie A in Sunday’s report.
