According to L'Équipe, Ligue two side Reims have turned down a €7.5m offer from Bayer Leverkusen for centre-back Abdoul Koné, which included loaning him back until the end of the season.

The first bid, lodged in recent days, was structured at around €6.5m plus one million euros in bonuses, a 50% sell-on clause and a loan until season’s end.

Reims have made a loan-back a condition for any winter sale and believe they can secure a higher overall package.

The club are also dealing with interest in Patrick Zabi and Martial Tia during the window.

Monaco, who tried to sign Koné as a “joker” earlier this season, remain in the race and should submit an offer in the coming days, with a loan-back also envisaged.
