Reinier has been disciplined by Atlético-MG after he abused a supporter following the 0-0 draw with Juventude in the Copa do Brasil last 16. The incident occurred at Arena MRV in Belo Horizonte at the end of Saturday’s first leg.

The club said in a statement that Reinier received a formal warning for insulting a fan and that internal measures are being taken regarding his conduct.

Later on Sunday, Reinier explained on social media that he overreacted in the heat of the moment and accepted he was wrong regardless of what he had heard. He apologised to Atlético supporters and acknowledged the backing from the stands.

The tie will be decided at Estádio Alfredo Jaconi in Caxias do Sul on Tuesday 04 at 19:30, Brasília time. The winner will reach the quarter-finals, and if it is level again the tie will be settled on penalties.

Reinier broke through at Flamengo in 2019, part of Jorge Jesus’s side that won the Copa Libertadores and the Brasileirão. He joined Real Madrid in early 2020, had loans at Borussia Dortmund, Girona, Frosinone and Granada, then signed for Atlético-MG in 2025.
