As January approaches, clubs can begin to negotiate pre-contracts with players whose contracts expire, and AC Milan will have to keep tabs on one situation in particular.

The left-back market was a big topic in the summer for Milan and other big European clubs as Alphonso Davies’ situation at Bayern Munich looked to be coming to a close. However, it did not end as expected.

Instead of a move to Real Madrid involving a fee, the Canadian defender stayed in Bavaria. As Relevo report, the left-back was frustrated by the following talks with the German giants about a new contract, so with his deal expiring in the summer of 2025, he will be free to speak to other clubs.

With this, the report suggests he is ‘clear about his desire’ and a move to Madrid is ‘practically done’. So this means Los Blancos will end their pursuit of Theo Hernandez, with it being stated that the Spanish club are ‘no longer looking’.

Unfortunately, that is not the end of the Theo saga. Instead, it is likely that Bayern will probably return to the table to speak about the Frenchman, given they no longer have a world-class left-back, and for this reason, the Rossoneri will have to speed up their negotiations with Hernandez.

Reports have already suggested that Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Geoffrey Moncada are focusing on his renewal among others, but the news of Davies’ decision could make the club focus on that deal before others all things considered.
