Rennes ‘part ways’ with Habib Beye after poor run and dressing-room strain | OneFootball

RMC reports that Rennes parted company with head coach Habib Beye on Monday after a damaging run, despite the club sitting sixth in Ligue 1, and amid unrest over his management in the dressing room.

The decision follows a sequence of setbacks, including 1-1 against Le Havre, 0-2 versus Lorient, 0-4 at Monaco, a 0-3 Coupe de France loss at Marseille and Saturday’s 1-3 defeat at Lens.

Until further notice, first-team training will be overseen by Sébastien Tambouret, Pierre-Alexandre Lelièvre and Maxime Le Marchand. The club has also initiated proceedings regarding assistants Saragaglia, Bichard and Cavezza.

Rennes remain in contention for Europe, the initial target and the condition for a possible extension in June, yet performances rarely convinced this season, even during the uptick late in 2025.

Beyond results, Beye’s final days were turbulent after the Marseille cup exit, with tensions involving Mousa al-Tamari or Brice Samba. The international goalkeeper with three caps was not even selected for the trip to Lens, a sanction previously applied to Ludovic Blas or Seko Fofana for the 2-2 draw at Toulouse on 29 October.

Appointed on 30 January after the successive departures last season of Julien Stéphan and Jorge Sampaoli, the Senegalese coach lasted a little over a year. Across league and cup he took charge of 39 matches, winning 18, drawing 7 and losing 14, securing survival in year one in 12th and leaving with European qualification still possible. Franck Haise has been strongly linked as a potential successor among other options.
