Al-Hilal manager Simone Inzaghi has not lost hope of signing veteran Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij.

According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the Italian coach is still vying for the 33-year-old’s signature.

Inter Milan were ready to negotiate De Vrij’s transfer to Riyadh before being turned down by Joao Cancelo.

Indeed, the Portuguese wingback’s arrival would’ve opened the door for the Dutchman’s exit.

However, Cancelo has chosen Barcelona over the Nerazzurri.

Inzaghi is eager to reunite with either Francesco Acerbi or De Vrij in Saudi Arabia.

With both players entering the final six months of their contracts at San Siro, Inzaghi hoped to lure them to the Middle East.

Yet, Inter are unwilling to cut them loose in January.

Inter’s stance could still change, but only if they sign a new wingback.

Therefore, Inzaghi must sit and wait.
