Aleksandar Kolarov is on the cusp of returning to Inter Milan in a different capacity to join forces with Cristian Chivu in the dugout.
Per Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Serie A runners-up will soon appoint the 39-year-old as Chivu’s assistant manager.
Despite unveiling Cristian Chivu on Monday, Inter have struggled to find a suitable candidate to assist him in his duties.
Indeed, Salernitana boss Giovanni Martusciello was unreachable due to ‘bureaucratic issues.’
Therefore, the Nerazzurri had to switch their attention elsewhere.

Like Chivu, Aleksandar Kolarov is another former Inter player.
He spent two years at San Siro between 2020 and 2022 before hanging up his boots three years ago.
Meanwhile, he was the head coach of Serbia’s U21 squad last year.
Furthermore, Kolarov briefly served as Pisa’s sporting director.
Therefore, he doesn’t lack experience in coaching and management, making him a well-rounded addition to Chivu’s backroom staff.
It looks like Inter are eager to assemble a technical staff featuring former club stars.
In addition to Kolarov, Paolo Orlandoni will be the goalkeeper coach.
