Chelsea forward Joao Felix had been offered to Inter Milan in January before he eventually joined AC Milan on loan.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908.
Joao Felix joined AC Milan on loan in the closing stages of the January transfer window.
A move away from Chelsea had always looked likely for the 25-year-old. He had struggled for playing time in the crowded Number Ten position at Stamford Bridge.
However, it was not always clear where Felix would go.
The Corriere note that Felix’s agents were sounding out a number of solutions for him.
Among the clubs that the former Atletico Madrid and Barcelona forward’s representatives spoke with was Inter, the Corriere reports.
The Nerazzurri have a bit of a traffic jam in attack at the moment.
All of Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, Mehdi Taremi, Marko Arnautovic, and Joaquin Correa are currently in the Inter squad as senior forwards.
However, there was always the possibility of a departure for Arnautovic or Correa in particular.
And in that case, Felix’s agents considered whether the Nerazzurri could be a destination.
However, reports the Corriere, Inter rebuffed the idea of signing Felix.
Even if Inter had offloaded Arnautovic or Correa, their priority would’ve been to sign Marco Asensio.
Therefore, the Portuguese international headed to AC Milan instead. He joined Inter’s city rivals on loan until the end of the season.
