Report – Inter Milan To Go All-In On Atalanta Star If Calhanoglu Leaves | OneFootball

Inter Milan will reportedly go all-in on signing Atalanta midfielder Ederson in the event that Hakan Calhanoglu leaves this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri would need more sales than Calhanoglu to finance a move for the Brazilian, however.

By now, the uncertain situation of Hakan Calhanoglu has come to dominate Inter’s transfer window.

The Nerazzurri are waiting to see whether Galatasaray will arrive with a decisive offer for the 31-year-old.

As the Gazzetta notes, Inter are not going to sell Calhanoglu below a certain fee. They want at least €30 million – considerably more than the €15 million Galatasasray would reportedly like to pay.

And a big part of Inter’s insistence on a fee is that they want to have enough to spend on a suitable replacement.

The Gazzetta dello Sport report that Inter have made a clear first choice if they lose Calhanoglu.

Atalanta midfielder Ederson checks all the boxes for the Nerazzurri in midfield.

However, the Brazilian certainly will not come cheap. Reportedly, Atalanta want a fee of around €50-60 million for his signature.

That makes a big part of why Inter are not going to allow Calhanoglu to leave for any bargain fees.

Even if the Nerazzurri get a fee of around €30 million for the Turkish international, though, there would still be more needed to move for Ederson.

Therefore, the Gazzetta report, Inter will have to make further deals to finance a deal for the former Salernitana midfielder.

One possibility would be a departure of Davide Frattesi. The 25-year-old’s future remains uncertain, even if the change in coach to Cristian Chivu could change his fate.

Then, there are smaller sales that could get Inter towards the price tag for Inter.

For example, Sebastiano Esposito is reportedly close to joining Fiorentina for around €7 million. Then, Inter are reportedly negotiating a transfer of Filip Stankovic to Club Brugge for around €10 million.

If Inter can get business of that nature done along with a sale of Calhanoglu, then they could afford to sign Ederson.
