Report – Juventus Defender Set to Join Napoli | OneFootball

Juventus defender Federico Gatti is reportedly edging closer to joining bitter rivals Napoli on loan with an obligation to buy. According to Sky Sport Italia, via Calciomercato, the Turin giants have already sanctioned the sale of the Italian center-back.

Talks between the clubs are at an advanced stage, with Massimiliano Allegri set to make the 28-year-old his first summer signing. Gatti seems eager to sign for Napoli after falling out of favor at the Allianz Stadium, but the parties must still iron out the final details.

Juventus value the former Frosinone man at around €20-25 million, and they’re unwilling to budge on their asking price. With Allegri hellbent on signing Gatti, Napoli are pushing to wrap up the deal as soon as possible.

Moreover, they could finalize the transfer in the coming days if negotiations continue to progress at the current pace.

Allegri’s interest in Gatti has little to do with Alessandro Buongiorno’s long-term injury. Instead, he views the Italian star as an upgrade on his current defensive options, primarily Juan Jesus and Amir Rrahmani.

Known for his aerial prowess and ferocious tackles, Gatti could be a decent option for the Partenopei. However, he is coming off a disappointing season, having made just 21 Serie A appearances under Luciano Spalletti.

There’s a genuine feeling that he would have much more space at the Diego Maradona Stadium, especially given Allegri’s affection for him.
