Manchester United are expected to enter the market to sign a new defender in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils invested heavily in their defense last summer when they signed Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

They could be forced to sign another defender in the summer after the long term injury suffered by Lisandro Martinez.

The World Cup winner has suffered an ACL injury and he has already been ruled out for the rest of the season but there is a chance he could miss some part of next season as well.

In order to replace him and to add more strength to their defense, they are considering a move for a Premier League defender.

According to Fichajes, the Red Devils, along with other Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, are considering a move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

The England international defender has impressed at Selhurst Park and the biggest clubs in the league are keen to secure his services.

Newcastle United tried to sign Guehi last summer but they failed to sign him even after making a £65m bid for him.

In the summer transfer window, Ruben Amorim’s side are expected to lose both Victor Lindelof as well as Jonny Evans, which means that they would need more depth in their defense and the absence of Martinez will increase their need for a defender more.

Having saved their money in the January transfer window, they are now completely focusing on the summer transfer window which would be the first proper transfer window under Amorim.

Palace received interest from other clubs in Guehi in January but after losing Trevoh Chalobah, who was recalled by Chelsea from his loan spell, they decided to keep the centre-back.

Palace are expecting an intense transfer battle between Premier League clubs to sign Guehi in the summer and United want to make him their next big defensive signing at the club.
