Report McTominay doubled transfer value since leaving Manchester United | OneFootball

After securing the Scudetto at Napoli and being named Serie A Best Overall Player in his debut season, Scott McTominay has reportedly doubled his transfer value since leaving Manchester United.

The Scotland international had spent his entire career at Old Trafford, but never quite lived up to those early expectations.

Antonio Conte and Napoli director Giovanni Manna spotted an opportunity on the market and snapped him up for €30m plus a 10 per cent cut of any future sale fee.

It proved a masterstroke, as he scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 34 Serie A appearances, proving absolutely essential in their march to the title.

McTominay was also named Serie A Best Overall Player for the 2024-25 campaign.

According to Calciomercato.com, these performances have allowed the 28-year-old to double his value on the transfer market in the space of just one season and is now to be considered worth circa €60m.

Part of the transformation was in his tactical role, giving him more freedom to push forward and attack rather than be used largely for defensive duties the way he was in Manchester.

When Conte adjusted his system, varying between 3-5-2, 4-3-3 and 4-4-2, McTominay moved around to be a trequartista or even cutting inside from the wide left position.

The player nearly doubled his personal best for goals scored in a single season, from seven in the 2023-24 Premier League to 12 in Serie A this term.

McTominay’s assists also surged from the previous personal best of one to this year’s six.

His contract with Napoli runs to June 2028 and is believed to be worth circa €3m per season net, a bargain considering his results.
