FC Barcelona entered the October international break in a difficult position after suffering two defeats in the space of one week, first against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League and then against Sevilla in La Liga.

The break came at a timely moment for the Blaugranes, giving Hansi Flick an opportunity to reflect on his team’s shortcomings and make the necessary adjustments. However, several high-profile fixtures await the Catalans once club football resumes.

One of the most anticipated matches is El Clásico, scheduled for the end of October. Barcelona will face this clash without some key players.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Robert Lewandowski is the latest casualty. The Polish striker returned from international duty with a hamstring tear and is expected to be sidelined for approximately four weeks, ruling him out of the match against Real Madrid.

Lewandowski’s absence adds to those of Joan Garcia, while Dani Olmo and Raphinha remain doubtful for the encounter. On the positive side, Barcelona can still rely on Ferran Torres, Fermin Lopez, and Lamine Yamal, all of whom are expected to be available despite recent fitness concerns.

The injury comes as a setback for Lewandowski, who has been working to secure a regular spot in Barça’s starting lineup, where Ferran Torres has seen more playing time in the early stages of the season.

The Polish forward will also miss upcoming fixtures against Girona, Olympiacos, Elche, Club Brugge, and Celta Vigo, as well as two crucial World Cup qualifiers with his national team against the Netherlands and Malta.

If his recovery goes as planned, he could return in late November for the La Liga clash against Athletic Club and the Champions League meeting with Chelsea.
