One of the standout sights of Barça’s preseason was undoubtedly Jofre Torrents. The 18-year-old Spanish left-back showcased his qualities impressively and seized the opportunities he was given. In many ways, he looks like a highly promising prospect for Barcelona.
However, his strong development and eye-catching performances have not gone unnoticed. According to SPORT, the latest club to express interest in him is Real Betis, with the Andalusian side reportedly keen on securing the youngster on a loan deal.

However, that idea was completely shut down by Barça director Deco. While he does tend to be a bit more negotiable in these matters more often than not, it would appear that Deco simply does not want Torrents to leave the club this summer under any circumstances.
The reason for that, as per the report, is that both Deco and Hansi Flick believe that he will get opportunities with the Barça first team this season. Considering the fact that the season is quite long and a lot of unexpected things can happen, it is important to have players like Torrents available to jump in when needed.
Moreover, he could prove to be a very useful alternative option to Alejandro Balde and Gerard Martin. Last season showed Barça exactly how dangerous it can be to lose their starting full-backs in the final stretch of the season, and having a player like Torrents available greatly helps in filling up that void.
