Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring a potentially significant market opening as Omar Marmoush prepares for what could be decisive talks over his Manchester City future. According to TeamTalk, the £60m forward is attracting attention from Spurs, Newcastle and clubs in Germany, with clarity from City expected to determine the next step.
Marmoush arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025 for a fee worth close to £60 million and, for a period, looked capable of carving out an important role. That early promise faded across the second half of the campaign. The 27-year-old started only eight Premier League games last season, and his reduced involvement has placed him firmly in the conversation as the window develops.

The key detail is straightforward. TEAMtalk reports that “Marmoush and his representatives want clarity from new Man City head coach Enzo Maresca before making any decision over his future.” That will be central to everything that follows. Sources cited in the report add that “The upcoming discussions are expected to be decisive.”
There is no indication of a player forcing an exit at this stage. In fact, the current stance is measured. “If Maresca signals Marmoush will have a prominent role, the Egyptian is open to staying and fighting for his place.” Equally, the alternative has been mapped out clearly: “However, should it become apparent that regular opportunities will again be difficult to come by, his camp are prepared to explore the growing interest from England and abroad.”
That uncertainty has alerted Premier League rivals. “Tottenham and Newcastle have both made enquiries about the versatile forward,” a detail that underlines how seriously his situation is being assessed. Spurs are in the market for attacking additions and Marmoush’s profile has obvious appeal, particularly given his capacity to operate centrally or from wide areas.
Newcastle remain active too, armed with fresh spending power after the £100 million sale of Sandro Tonali to Tottenham. Their need is clear after underwhelming returns from other attacking options, and Marmoush offers flexibility that few available forwards can match.
There is also “significant interest from several Bundesliga clubs”, which matters. Marmoush’s standing in Germany remains strong after his time with Eintracht Frankfurt, and a return to a familiar environment could become a serious option if City indicate that minutes will be limited once more.
For Tottenham, the attraction is easy to understand. “Marmoush’s ability to play as a striker, second striker or winger are viewed as major positives by Tottenham and Newcastle.” In a market where versatility, experience and top-level exposure carry a premium, this is one to watch carefully over the coming days.
From a Tottenham perspective, this feels like exactly the kind of opportunity the club should be pushing hard to explore. A £60m attacker with Premier League experience, high-level pedigree from Germany and the versatility to cover multiple positions does not come onto the market every week. If there is even a small opening here, Spurs should be ready.
What makes this especially exciting is the fit. Tottenham need depth, movement and unpredictability in the forward line, and Marmoush appears to bring all three. He can play through the middle, off a main striker or out wide, which gives the coaching staff genuine tactical flexibility across a long season. That matters enormously if Spurs are going to compete on several fronts.
There is also a sense that this could be a smart-value deal despite the £60m fee City paid. Sometimes a player needs the right environment, trust and rhythm. If Manchester City cannot offer that consistently, Tottenham should be asking whether they can unlock the version of Marmoush seen in Germany.
For supporters, the encouraging part is that Spurs are being linked with dynamic, multi-functional attackers rather than one-dimensional options. If this report develops into something concrete, it would be hard not to get excited. Marmoush looks like a player who could arrive hungry, motivated and with a point to prove, and those are often the signings that energise a squad and a fanbase.
