UEFA has come out in support of referee Daniele Doveri amid a raging debate over his decision in Sunday’s Serie A clash between Hellas Verona and Inter Milan.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, UEFA has backed Doveri’s decision not to send off Yann Bisseck.
Inter Milan pulled off a late 2-1 victory at the Bentegodi, as Martin Frese scored a comic own goal in the 92nd minute.
However, the yellow-card incident midway through the second half cast a shadow on Inter’s triumph.

Verona forward Giovane intercepted Petar Sucic’s poor backward pass, forcing Yann Bisseck to commit a foul near the halfway line.
Though the German was the last man of defense, Daniele Doveri refused to show him a red card for a reason.
Indeed, Giovane wasn’t running goalward. Instead, his touch took him wide toward the flank, meaning the foul didn’t deny a goal-scoring opportunity.
Therefore, Doveri made the right decision, which, nonetheless, sparked controversy among referees.
