Bayern still have a long list of injuries to key first-team players ahead of the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final coming up in San Siro on Wednesday, and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is still on the absentee list heading into this week’s decider.
Inter currently have a 2-1 lead over the Bundesliga giants thanks to goals from Lautaro Martinez and Davide Frattesi at the Allianz Arena last Tuesday, but there is still plenty of work to do before a spot in the Champions League semi-final is secured.
Vincent Kompany was without several key first-team players for the first leg of the Champions League tie, including goalkeeper and Bayern captain Neuer, plus defenders Dayot Upamecano, Hiroki Ito, Alphonso Davies, midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic, Germany international Jamal Musiala and former Juventus forward Kingsley Coman.
Reports last week claimed that Neuer, Pavlovic and Coman were the players in with a chance of returning in time for the second leg against Inter on Wednesday.
However, according to reports from Sky and Gianluca Di Marzio, the 2014 World Cup winner is no longer expected to be fit in time to play against the Nerazzurri this week. The veteran stopper is still suffering with a muscular injury that he picked up at the beginning of March.
That means that 21-year-old Jonas Urbig is expected to start in goal against Inter again, which was also the case for the first leg in Bavaria on Tuesday.
Coman and Pavlovic, meanwhile, are in contention to feature on Wednesday, as had been anticipated last week.
