Manchester City have secured the signing of Brazil international Savinho on a long-term deal this week, adding further attacking flair to an already star-studded line-up.

The 20-year-old has penned a long-term five-year agreement with the Premier League champions, keeping him as part of the Manchester City operation until the summer of 2029 at the very earliest.

Savinho’s presence adds an even greater sense of unpredictability into Pep Guardiola’s forward line, joining a whole host of versatile options on the right and left-wing positions, as well as competing for roles with Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku, and Oscar Bobb.

As such, Manchester City’s manager and coaching staff have an even greater array of potential options when it comes to their attacking formation for the upcoming season, but will have little time to work on the fluidity of roles given Savinho’s absence from pre-season in the USA.

And following comments from the 20-year-old around where he sees himself playing in the Manchester City line-up, City Xtra can now reveal how Pep Guardiola’s attacking system could look with Savinho being deployed in multiple roles next season.

“I really like playing on the left and right, but I can also play in the middle,” Savinho told ManCity.com during his first media duties with the Premier League champions. “I really prefer to play on the right wing. But whatever the coach, the boss decides, I will help the team.”

Bernardo Silva could still be utilised by manager Pep Guardiola on the right-side of an attacking trio next season, although there is an expectation for the Portuguese to be slotted into midfield more often.

There has also been some rumours amongst those around the club that in the event of Manchester City failing to sign a fresh back-up solution to Rodrigo in defensive midfield, Bernardo Silva could act in the holding role alongside an inverted full-back.

Pep Guardiola has used the likes of Mateo Kovacic and Rico Lewis in the holding midfield role in previous contests, however there is a belief that the latter could be viewed as more of an attacking midfield option in the nearer future, should he play anywhere centrally.
