Torino hope to convince Marko Arnautovic to leave Inter Milan in January with the promise of more playing time.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Granata are not giving up in their pursuit of the Austrian.
Torino look to have made Inter striker Arnautovic one of their priority targets for the January transfer window.
There is little doubt that the Piedmontese club will dip into the market next month.
The long-term injury to Duvan Zapata has left Torino with a hole in the striker position.
Particularly, the Granata want to sign a player, like the Colombian, who is capable of offering not just goals, but also physicality and holdup play as a focal point for the team’s attack.
According to Tuttosport, Torino don’t want to spend more than €8 million on a striker next month.
That would mean that the €15 million fee that Napoli are demanding for Giovanni Simeone is too high.
On the other hand, a move for Arnautovic could be within reach.
And Inter, Tuttosport report, would be open to selling the former West Ham United and Bologna striker for the right offer.
But then Arnautovic’s wages would be a potential stumbling block. As would the 35-year-old’s apparent lack of a desire to leave Inter.
However, Torino will push the idea that Arnautovic is not getting enough playing time at Inter.
The Austrian has been a relatively peripheral figure at the Nerazzurri this season. Even with his starring performance in the Coppa Italia recently.
And the re-emergence of Joaquin Correa as a starting option may only further eat away at Arnautovic’s playing time over the second half of the campaign.
Therefore, Torino are ready to offer Arnautovic the chance to be the first-choice starter in attack.
