A sensational attempt to bring Paulo Dybala back to Palermo has been unsuccessful.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, in recent weeks the Rosanero club, still competing in the playoffs for promotion to Serie A, had made the Argentine a top target to strengthen the squad.

The initiative reportedly came directly from sporting director Carlo Osti, who contacted then-Roma sporting director Frederic Massara to explore the possibility of convincing Dybala to return to Sicily, where his career in Italian football had taken off before his move to Juventus.

Palermo’s plan envisioned not only the striker’s return, but also a central role in the club’s new direction.

Despite the Rosanero’s desire to present a convincing offer, the striker declined every proposal, confirming his intention to continue his experience with Roma.

Dybala’s choice appears consistent with the ongoing negotiations between the parties regarding his contract renewal: although the final agreement is not yet official, the player and the club continue to work to extend their relationship and plan for the future together.

His contract officially expires on June 30th, but La Joya’s adventure in the capital seems destined to continue.
