RFI named official radio partner for 2026 World Cup in sub-Saharan Africa

RFI has been named the official radio broadcaster of the 2026 World Cup in sub-Saharan Africa, carrying 33 full live matches in French and other languages. According to L'Équipe, coverage will include the opening Mexico v South Africa tie and other standout fixtures. The tournament will be staged in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Highlights will feature France v Senegal on 16 June at 21:00, as well as Germany v Ivory Coast, Portugal v Democratic Republic of the Congo and Brazil v Morocco.

On Thursday, the opening day, RFI will air a Special Edition from 8:00 to 10:00 with Claude Le Roy, the French coach and former Cameroon and Senegal boss, and Benjamin Moukandjo, the former Cameroon international.

The station will also run a series of 10 reports on the continent’s qualified nations, namely Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Ghana, South Africa, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Cape Verde.

A long-form piece will focus on Cape Verde in depth, exploring the archipelago’s enthusiasm and passion for football.
