Samuele Ricci reflected on his development at Milan and his return to the Italy squad, praising both his club coach Massimiliano Allegri and Azzurri boss Gennaro Gattuso.
Speaking to Rai Sport, with quotes via MilanNews.it, the midfielder admitted the transition from Torino to Milan had been a challenge. “It’s been a period of growth,” he said.
“I came from a club where I played regularly to one where competition is much higher. But in recent games I’ve managed to find consistency and minutes, which allowed me to return to the national team.”

The Italian signed for the Rossoneri in the summer, for a figure in the region of €25 million.
After a slow introduction to life in Lombardy, he has become more regularly relied upon lately, especially after the injury to fellow summer signing Adrien Rabiot.
With his improved performances, has come a call-up to the Italian national team, with Ricci praising head coach Gennaro Gattuso for his general attitude with the Italy players.
Ricci also described his positive relationship with Gattuso: “Even when I wasn’t called up, he reached out to me. It’s not something to take for granted – it shows he values everyone, even those who stayed home.”

The Milan man also discussed working under Allegri. “We understand each other well, even share the same sense of humour,” he said. “He’s building something important. The team went through difficult moments but you can see his influence.”
Ricci praised Luka Modric as “the strongest player I’ve ever played with” and noted his humility and intensity at 40. He also spoke highly of Rafael Leao: “Rafa doesn’t even realise how strong he is. He’s giving everything for the team now – 100% focused on Milan and doing well.”
