Liverpool's Premier League title hopes are all but gone thanks to their poor run of form.

The Reds' start to the 2025-26 season was rather impressive with the Anfield outfit managing to win five top flight games in a row.

And, even though they went on an unbeaten run after that, it's still not been good enough with some fans questioning whether Arne Slot's men will even finish inside the top four spots.

This lack of form has caused several rumours to emerge from L4 with players in each and every position being linked with an Anfield switch.

Of course, Slot's defence is one of the main areas that needs to be focused on in the summer but that doesn't mean that Liverpool can't throw their hat into the ring for other players.

That is, even if one of their transfer targets is set to agree a new contract with his club.

Khephren Thuram is set to agree a contract extension with Juventus despite Liverpool's interest

Even though Liverpool's midfield is arguably the strongest area of their team, bringing in a new player or two would certainly help change things up.

Several midfielders have already been linked with Anfield switches this season and with Richard Hughes' focus now on the summer transfer window, the rumour mill is going to start turning.

However, in Khephren Thuram's case, his future is already sealed as, according to TEAMtalk, the Frenchman is set to agree a contract extension with Juventus.

The report shares that Liverpool are 'actively in the market' for a new midfielder with Thuram high on their radar.

The Old Lady are accelerating negotiations to keep him in the Serie A which means that it's highly unlikely for him to exit any time soon.

However, all hope isn't lost as Thuram being taken off the market just means that Hughes can put his full attention into someone else.

Liverpool must turn their attention towards Elliot Anderson to bolster their midfield

As mentioned, several midfielders have already been linked with an Anfield switch ahead of the summer transfer window.

Although players such as Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai already occupy those positions, some extra firepower never did anyone any harm.

Of all the players who have been linked with Liverpool, Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson seems to be the most interesting player.

He's regularly been called up to England's international squad and is highly likely to be taken to the World Cup.

The Newcastle academy graduate is one of the Premier League's most versatile midfielders with the Englishman playing everywhere but defence for Nottingham Forest this season.

He may not have set the world alight as much as he did last term but, the fact that he's contributed to three goals in 26 Premier League games is impressive.

Additionally, he's also only 23 years old which means that there's still plenty of time for him to grow into an even better player than he already is.

Slot needs more versatility among his ranks next term which is why, of all the players that the Anfield outfit have been linked with, signing Anderson makes the most sense, especially since Thomas Tuchel has already dubbed him an 'elite' player.
