Liverpool on Sunday bid farewell to two legends of the modern era.

Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are leaving the club after their glorious, trophy-laden spells.

But there is one more senior star whose future remains at risk - despite a contract until 2027 worth a reported £150k per week minimum.

Richard Hughes earlier this season activated a clause in the contract of Alisson Becker - securing the goalkeeper’s future for another season.

Juventus want Alisson deal

Juventus though are known to be very interested in recruiting the Brazil No1 as part of their latest rebuild.

It’s believed that the South American shotstopper is keen on a reunion with Luciano Spalletti in Turin - who coached him at Roma before he made his way to Anfield in 2018.

There is a contract drawn up for Alisson - said to be for three years - and all that remains is a club-to-club agreement for the deal.

Juve are keen not to pay a big fee for the goalkeeper - who will command a high wage and is already at an advanced stage of his career.

Liverpool on the other hand won’t be in the mood to lose their current No1 for nothing - so it remains to be seen how a deal may be structured.

A report in the Athletic now claims that the decision lies entirely in Liverpool’s hands.

Alisson decision is left in Liverpool's hands

It would appear that Alisson and Juventus are just waiting for the green light before the 33-year-old embarks on a second spell in Serie A.

“As the Kop serenaded Salah and Robertson, the fans also made point to chant Alisson’s name, anticipating this might be the last time they see the Brazilian, with rumours of an exit gathering pace over recent weeks. Juventus are well known admirers, but the goalkeeper will only consider a change of direction if Liverpool make it clear they are willing to let him leave, and at this stage there has been no indication of that,” the report reads.

Alisson was back in goal on Sunday for the final Premier League game of the season - against Brentford - following a spell out of the team with injury. One issue over the former Roma star is that he has been missing far too many matches with various injury troubles.

That alone might explain why Liverpool could be tempted into selling him - but there remains a problem over the succession plan. It’s clear that Giorgi Mamardashvili hasn’t lived up to expectations - and may not be good enough to become No1 in his own right.

So Hughes and head coach Arne Slot will need to weigh up their next move carefully - and decide if another goalkeeper needs to be sourced in the off-season.
