In the upcoming windows, there is a good chance Liverpool will have to bring in at least two more wingers.

One to replace Luis Diaz, who was never replaced in the summer, and another to replace Mo Salah, who will likely leave the club at the end of the season.

That means Hughes is going to be on a mission to find the right profiles for Liverpool and he has been given an exciting come and get me plea from a player who has been on his radar for a while.

Recently, Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig confirmed that his dream was to play for Liverpool.

“I want to play at Anfield, I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a big Liverpool fan. My father’s dream is to see me play for Liverpool," Diomande said on Instagram Live back in November and it was captured by a TikTok user.

At 19-years-old, Diomande has been a break-out star for RB Leipzig over the course of this season. He has just 26 senior club appearances for Leipzig and Leganes but in those games Diomande has shown that he is a special player.

Comfortable with both feet, Diomande can play on either side of the attack and he is a brilliant one vs one player who is also extremely fast, clocking up a top-speed of 35.8km/h in the Bundesliga this season.

He is someone who is on Liverpool's radar and who the club's scouts have been following closely.

Liverpool have a strong connection and a strong history buying players from Red Bull clubs. Now the Reds' former manager Jurgen Klopp is also working for Red Bull so the connection is even stronger.

But what makes this even more of an intriguing deal for Liverpool is that while Diomande is only coming onto the mainstream right now, he's actually someone who has been around for a while.

He first caught the eye at the U17 WAFU tournament in 2022, where he scored three goals in three games and really caught the eye of observers.

After that Diomande joined DME Academy on a scholarship in the United States. There he went on a number of trials during the 2023/24 season.

Anfield Watch understands those trials were to Rangers, Chelsea and interestingly to Bournemouth, whose sporting director at the time was Hughes himself.

In the end, Diomande chose Leganes as the best and quickest pathway for him into senior football.
