Liverpool's midfield may be their most stacked area at the moment but that doesn't mean that change isn't afoot.
The Reds' midfielders have been some of their most important players this season with Dominik Szoboszlai being their best-performing player.
The Hungarian has been pivotal to the success that the Anfield outfit have had this season with his goals often single-handedly winning the club games.
However, with the recent rumours surrounding the futures of Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones, it's clear that some changes to their midfield ranks could be made.
And, if this is the case and one or two of the aforementioned midfielders choose to exit, they'll need several succession plans to turn towards with Liverpool even willing to offer one player around £10.4 million to join them.
Although Ryan Gravenberch may have just extended his contract, that doesn't mean that Liverpool can't explore other options for defensive midfielders.
In this regard, Aurelien Tchouameni seems to be on top of their list with a new report from Spanish outlet Defensa Central stating that the Reds are now 'interested' in signing the Frenchman.
"Liverpool, Manchester United, and other Premier League clubs are interested in signing Aurelien Tchouameni to bolster their midfield, but the French midfielder is under contract until 2028," they wrote.
"Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly willing to offer him a salary of €12 million.
"Real Madrid will improve his salary in their offer, but they won't drastically alter the established salary structure. However, this isn't a problem, as the player isn't planning to ask for an exorbitant amount."
Because of how badly Liverpool have performed this season, it's clear that some changes will need to be made.
However, since there isn't a particular area of their team that has done all that well this term, it's hard for fans to figure out what the Reds' priority list should be in the summer.
Indeed, Mohamed Salah is going to leave at the end of the season so he'll need to be replaced but, aside from that, Richard Hughes and Arne Slot have free reign over who to sign and who to sell.
A lot of their decisions will rest upon how much they can get for players that they want to move on as, last summer, they chose to spend over £400 million.
And, if they don't end up qualifying for the Champions League, their options will decrease, especially if they want to sign some world class talent.
Tchouameni, who has been described as a "superb" midfielder by Rio Ferdinand, would be an incredible signing for Liverpool but, in the grand scheme of things, he could end up costing too much money for them to sign.
That is, even though he'd only be earning around £200,000-per-week.
