Liverpool have announced Rio Ngumoha has signed his first professional contract with the Merseyside club.
The Reds have not revealed the length of the deal, but The Athletic claim the 17-year-old has penned a three-year contract, keeping him at Anfield until 2028.
Ngumoha started his career at Chelsea, joining the club at the age of eight. He left the Londoners to join Liverpool in the summer of 2024.
The teenager initially played for the Reds’ under-18s before quickly progressing into the under-21s.
Ngumoha became the youngest player in the club’s history to start a first-team match when he featured against Accrington Stanley in January.
Liverpool were left so impressed with his performances in pre-season that they didn’t sign a replacement for Luis Diaz, who left to join Bayern Munich.
Ngumoha has made an excellent start to the 2025-26 campaign, making four appearances across all competitions and scoring a late winner against Newcastle United in the Premier League.
The winger has made a lot of progress since joining Liverpool in 2024, but he is expected to further develop his game under top coach Arne Slot.
The Merseyside giants have been impeccable so far this season, winning all five top-flight matches to open up a five-point lead at the top.
Slot made wholesale changes to the team for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup fixture against Southampton, but still comfortably won 2-1 at Anfield.
Liverpool will now return to action on Saturday when they travel to South London to face Crystal Palace.
