River reached the Torneo Apertura final with a 1-0 win over Rosario Central at the Monumental, sealed by a Facundo Colidio penalty. Injuries to Sebastián Driussi, Gonzalo Montiel and Anibal Moreno mean all three will miss the decider.

According to SuperDepor.com, post-match medical tests confirmed the setbacks in recent hours. The situation has also concerned Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni, with Montiel and Moreno among the 55 names on the preliminary list for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Montiel missed the Gimnasia tie after a warm-up injury, but was risked against Rosario Central. He lasted 45 minutes, failed from the spot, and was replaced by Fabricio Bustos. It was later confirmed he suffered a tear in his left quadriceps, which would leave him touch and go for the World Cup.

Driussi and Moreno suffered similar problems, both diagnosed with right medial collateral ligament sprains. Driussi’s came after a challenge with midfielder Franco Ibarra, while Moreno’s followed an awkward movement. Driussi’s is thought to be more serious.

Marcos Acuña, also in Scaloni's thoughts, did not start against Rosario Central as he was not fully fit after a knock in the quarter-final against Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata.

Eduardo Coudet’s side will contest the final on Sunday 24 May at 15:30, awaiting the winner of Argentinos Juniors v Belgrano de Córdoba. River also face the conclusion of Copa Sudamericana Group H, where they are targeting top spot.
