River have secured 19-year-old centre-back Tobías Ramírez from Argentinos Juniors in a swift deal, buying 80% of his rights for five million dollars gross, with a contract running to December 2029.

According to SuperDepor.com, he will join the squad in the coming days.

If head coach Eduardo Coudet chooses, the defender could feature this semester, bolstering the back line ahead of the Copa Sudamericana.

After 12 rounds of the Torneo Apertura, River's board, led by Stefano Di Carlo, would use an extension tied to the sale of Matías Galarza Fonda to bring in a young prospect.

The move comes amid Argentinos Juniors' need to sell players following early exits from the Copa Libertadores, after falling in the preliminary phase, and the Copa Argentina.

Ramírez adds to options alongside Lautaro Rivero, Lucas Martínez Quarta and Paulo Díaz, while Germán Pezzella and Juan Carlos Portillo are sidelined in that position.
