River to explore season-long loans for Mastantuono and Echeverri | OneFootball

River will make formal enquiries to Real Madrid and Manchester City over at least a season-long loan for Franco Mastantuono and Claudio ‘Diablito’ Echeverri, according to SuperDepor.com.

The club want a statement move this window, targeting two standout graduates from their academy. The approach hinges on neither player being assured an immediate leading role in Europe.

Mastantuono’s case is seen as the most complex. Sold to Real Madrid in a historic deal for Argentine football, his initial period in Spain has not cemented him as a regular. Even so, those close to him view a return to Argentina as very unlikely while Madrid define his next step.

Echeverri belongs to Manchester City on a contract until June 2028 and has been gaining minutes at Girona. River previously tried to bring him back, but City kept him within their European set-up.

Despite the hurdles, River believe the market could open an unexpected window. Their strong relationship with Manchester City, reinforced by the Julián Álvarez deal, and the pair’s ties to the club fuel hope that remains difficult, yet not dismissed.
