Following Olympique de Marseille’s 5-1 win over Montpellier, Roberto De Zerbi confirmed a recent report from L’Équipe that reveals the Italian is planning to take his squad away to a base camp in Italy over the coming weeks. Les Olympiens bounced back on Saturday night to beat Ligue 1’s bottom club at Vélodrome to reignite their push for a top-three finish. The result allowed OM to reclaim second place from Monaco, just a week after their 3-0 humbling at the Principality.Speaking at a press conference attended by Get French Football News post-match, De Zerbi revealed that the club is prepared to take exceptional steps to secure Champions League football next season — including a potential training camp in Italy.“It’s true,” De Zerbi confirmed. “We’ve thought with the club about doing everything we can to reach our objective. It’s not a punishment — it’s simply to help the team reconnect.”“It’s not a punishment,” explained the Italian. “It’s just to try and find ourselves again. With Pablo (Longoria) and Medhi (Benatia), we decided that spending a few weeks together would allow us to prepare better for the future. The players agreed. It won’t change their lives, but it could change their careers.”The club reportedly tried to find a base in the South-East of France to no sucess: thus the current plan, according to RMC Sport, is likely to come in the form of a series of small training camps lasting between three and five days before each match. The location of the training camps will be in the Rome area. GFFN | George Boxall – Reporting from the Stade Vélodrome, Marseille
