Roberto De Zerbi has been appointed Tottenham head coach on Tuesday, succeeding Igor Tudor, who was sacked on Sunday, only six weeks after his arrival.

The club said in a statement that the Italian had signed a long-term deal, and he said he was delighted to join a fantastic club, one of the biggest and most prestigious in the world.

De Zerbi, 46, had been out of work since leaving Marseille in February after a little over 18 months in charge.

In London, his immediate task is to keep Tottenham up, with the club 17th in the Premier League and one point above West Ham, the nearest side in the relegation places.

Tudor failed to win any of his five league matches, drawing one and losing four.
