Wolverhampton Wanderers’ South Korea international striker Hwang Hee-chan (28) is part of a short-list of potential attacking reinforcements established by Olympique de Marseille, according to a report this Thursday from L’Équipe.
Newly-appointed Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi has approved Les Phocéens’ attempts to lure Hwang Hee-chan from Molineux to the Vélodrome. Marseille are in the market for a striker considering they have sanctioned the sales of Vitinha (24) to Genoa and of Iliman Ndiaye (24) to Everton.
Last season, Marseille were too reliant on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (35) to shoulder the goal-scoring burden, but the Gabonese international is the subject of interest from Saudi outfit Al-Shabab. The outlet understands that Hwang Hee-chan is, like Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood (22), appreciated by the Marseille higher-ups. De Zerbi, who crossed the South Korean’s path in the Premier League, reportedly appreciates Hwang Hee-chan’s intense style.
L’Équipe adds that Marseille are yet to open talks with Wolves over the signing of the 28-year-old Hwang Hee-chan, who is under contract with Wolves until 2028.
