At the club’s pre-match press conference, sporting director Rouven Schröder addressed captain Rocco Reitz’s future, stating: "It is very, very unlikely that Rocco will still be with us next year."

According to Get German Football News, RB Leipzig are said to have reached an agreement with the player, and it is now down to the clubs to agree a fee.

Reitz is said to have a release clause worth around €25m, although Leipzig do not wish to pay that figure and will look to negotiate it down.

Schröder said any agreement would be between Reitz and a potential new club, that the midfielder has long been in high demand, and that one side has made a more concrete push to sign him for next year.

Should he move to the Red Bull Arena, Reitz is viewed as a replacement for both Xaver Schlager, who will leave at the end of his contract, and Kevin Kampl, who retired earlier this season.

With Gladbach in a relegation battle, a switch from his boyhood club to Leipzig may not go down well at Borussia-Park. Schröder added that the club will do their utmost to do a good job for Borussia.
