According to SuperDepor.com, Fluminense have stepped up a move for Lanús striker Rodrigo Castillo. The transfer for the full rights could be finalised at 10 million dollars as Brazil's window closes on Tuesday and the FIFA registration deadline approaches.
The Rio club accelerated after Castillo scored twice in the Recopa Sudamericana final against Flamengo, their rivals. The Tricolor advanced for the ex Gimnasia La Plata forward after setbacks in talks for Paraguayan Gabriel Ávalos with Independiente and Alexis Cuello with San Lorenzo.
Castillo joined Lanús in July last year from Gimnasia La Plata for 1.8 million dollars, payable in nine instalments.
He debuted against Deportivo Riestra on 14 July, has played 33 matches and scored 14 goals. He also lifted the Copa Sudamericana against Atlético Mineiro in November and the Recopa Sudamericana last Thursday against Flamengo.
On Sunday, in the draw with Defensa y Justicia, he started on the bench and came on after 25 minutes of the second half for Walter Bou. In this Torneo Apertura he has featured in Lanús' matches and scored one goal, on the opening day against San Lorenzo.
If the move goes through, the Buenos Aires club have until 10 March to register a replacement.
