Rodrigo Mendoza goes off injured, Atlético report right ankle trauma | OneFootball

Rodrigo Mendoza went off injured at half-time against Real Sociedad. The club said in a post that he sustained a strong trauma to his right ankle and is awaiting further tests.

The incident came in first-half stoppage time as Mendoza challenged with Barrenetxea and hurt his right leg. Medical staff treated him and he tried to continue on the touchline, but he was in clear pain and limping. Marcos Llorente replaced him for the second period.

The former Elche midfielder started again, having been a regular in the league. He lined up in a double pivot to the right of Koke and delivered a solid 45 minutes.

Pushing higher than the captain, he even had a good chance from a Lookman pass, but chose to square rather than shoot and the defence cleared.

In defence, Mendoza recorded three recoveries and two successful tackles.
