Ferguson, who has 13 Premier League goals from 60 appearances at the age of 20, has also been offered to Atalanta in the event that Mateo Retegui leaves for Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah this summer.

Roma, meanwhile, are looking at the possibility of signing the Irishman as an option to rotate and compete with current centre-forward Artem Dovbyk.

Ferguson scored six Premier League goals from 19 appearances during his first full season in the English top flight in 2022-23, and followed that up with another six Premier League goals before the end of November in 2023-24. A season-ending operation on his ankle kept him out of action until September of 2024.

Ferguson is one of four players to have scored a Premier League hat-trick at the age of 18. He and Como head coach Cesc Fabregas are the only non-English players to register 10 Premier League goal involvements while aged 18 or under.

As well as Ferguson, the Giallorossi are also reportedly in negotiations to sign midfielder Neil El Aynaoui from Ligue 1 side Lens.
